Grow a Thriving Garden Inside Your Home

Terms of Use

Last updated: October 6, 2026

These Terms of Use apply to your use of Indoor Gardening (“the site”). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

What the site provides

The site publishes free guides about creating and maintaining gardens inside the home. They are general information only. The site is not written by horticulturists, botanists, professional gardeners, designers or electricians, and it is not professional advice of any kind. It is not a substitute for advice from a local extension service or a qualified professional. We work to keep the guides clear and accurate, but we do not promise that every guide is free of errors.

General-information disclaimer

Plant care outcomes vary. What a plant needs depends on the plant itself, on the light, temperature and humidity where it grows, on the season, on the potting medium and on the container. The guides describe general approaches and things to check; they cannot take your particular plants or home into account. Sizes, distances and times are starting points, not rules. We do not guarantee that any plant will survive, flower or grow in a particular way if you follow a guide.

Shelves, wall fixings and hanging planters. Pots are heavy, and heavier still when the potting medium is wet. Whether a shelf, a bracket, a rail, a hook, a wall or a ceiling can carry a load depends on the product and on the building. The site states no weight limits. Follow the manufacturer’s load rating and installation instructions, use fixings suited to the surface, check any rules that apply to a rented home before drilling, and ask a qualified professional if you are unsure.

Grow lights and other electrical equipment. Use grow lights, timers, humidifiers and any other electrical equipment only as supplied and as the manufacturer instructs, and keep fixtures and connections away from water. The site does not describe modifying equipment or working on household wiring. Anything involving the wiring of your home is a job for a qualified electrician.

Water and surfaces. Watering indoors can mark or damage floors, sills and furniture. Protecting those surfaces is your responsibility; the guides describe common ways to do it, without promising that they are enough in your home.

Plants, pets and children. The site makes no statement about whether a particular plant is safe for people or animals. The fact that a guide carries no warning about a plant tells you nothing about that plant. Look each plant up in an authoritative source before bringing it into a home with pets or small children.

Fertilizers and other products. Any fertilizer or other plant-care product must be used according to its own label. The label takes precedence over anything on this site. The site gives no doses, dilution rates or mixing instructions.

You use the information on the site at your own risk.
